Both Proton monitor/receiver designs incorporate an 8 VSB DTV tuner that is compliant with ATSC standards, enabling viewers to receive both normal NTSC programs and off-air HDTV programs in all ATSC 18 picture formats (480i / 480p / 720p / 1080i). They also effectively upgrade 480i / 480p programs to 1080i format, and are HDTV-ready for programming from satellite or digital cable boxes.

Proton's auto-alignment technology ensures optimum picture resolution under all operating conditions, while the 3D de-interlace circuitry reduces color noise and video interference. Proton also uses proprietary circuitry to enable users and technicians to adjust the internal video parameters externally for optimum picture quality.
